Apart from windshield care, safe driving tips should likewise be followed and adhered to, and a lot of that would have something to do with windshield use and care. For instance US News posted an online article that is meant to guide vehicle owners about avoiding windshield fogging during the winter season. They say, keeping the windshield fog free is important in ensuring the safety of the driver and all of his passengers.

“Clearing a foggy windshield up isn’t as simple as turning on the defroster. Keeping your window clear in the winter is all about balancing the warmth and moisture inside your car with the cold, dry air on the outside. Too much moisture, and your cabin will reach the “dew point,” which leads to fog on the window. Until your inside is dry, your glass will remain fogged—a dangerous proposition for you and the drivers around you. Here are five simple steps to ensure your windows stay clear.”

Safe Windshield Defrosting Solution

NBC News meanwhile shared some winter windshield hacks that can help car owners remain hassle-free during the cold season. In its article it shared a DIY ice-defrosting spray that is perfectly safe to use on any windshield.

“Nothing kills your morning vibe faster than one of winter's most annoying manifestations: the frozen-over car windshield. You could resort to time-consuming methods like scraping the glass or letting the engine run for a while, neither of which is ideal if you're rushing to work. But there is a smarter, faster way: Spritz on a solution of water and rubbing alcohol and thank science as you watch the ice dissolve.”

Insurance provider State Farm also shared several tips so that car owners can avoid the hassle of having thick layers of snow in the windshield. In their blog post they also mentioned ways on how to safely de-ice a windshield and how to keep windows from fogging.

“Before you tackle accumulations on the windows, check to see that the tailpipe is free of snow. Snow covering your tailpipe could lead to carbon monoxide buildup in your car. After that, turn on the car and run the defroster. It may take five minutes or more to warm up the car and start the melting process. Clear snow from the roof, hood, and trunk lid while you wait. Next, clear the side windows and rear windows. Do the windshield last to give the defroster more time to start melting the ice.”
